Building teams, and helping everyone work towards a common goal is something that I enjoy (and am also skilled at!)

I worked with Mark for a number of years as the team manager for the Russell Racing School.

Mark was exceptional in every way. While being more than good at his job, he was a great leader, a great teammate, worked independently and well with others.

Beyond that, Mark was an inspiration to the rest of the team. Ever optimistic, Mark was a beacon of light and joy and made sure that everyone on the team enjoyed coming to work.

We have gone on different paths but I would hire him back in a minute if I had the chance.

I first met Mark in 1993 when I attended the Jim Russell Racing School. I was reunited with him in the late 90’s when I raced in the Russell series, then again when racing for World Speed Motorsports. Mark is a tremendously capable and exceptional human being. One minute he’s my race engineer helping to optimize my aerodynamic and suspension setup, the next minute he’s designing and marketing a new race car (the FormulaSpeed), and then the next minute he’s leading communications and operations for the race team.

To say he’s a jack of all trades wouldn’t be accurate because it implies that he knows a little about a lot of things. The reality is that Mark knows a lot about a lot of things, and when combined with his incredible work ethic, sense of humor and good nature, it’s a pretty lethal combination! He’s honestly one of my favorite people in the world and one of the few people I know who can jump into an unknown situation, quickly assess the issues, and make things happen – all the while being an absolute delight to work with and be around.
